Then, three steps
- 1 Open the .dmg and drag Kazhy to Applications.
It's signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning.
- 2 Allow the microphone.
Kazhy asks the first time you record. Nothing is recorded until you hold the key.
- 3 Allow Accessibility.
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. This is what lets Kazhy watch for the Fn key and paste into the app you're in. Without it, nothing gets typed.
Then hold Fn, say something, and let go.
Worth knowing before you install
- Apple Silicon only. M1 and up, macOS 14 or newer. Intel Macs are not supported.
- Not on the Mac App Store. Typing into other apps needs access the sandbox doesn't allow, so Kazhy ships directly and updates itself.
- The first run downloads a speech model. A few hundred megabytes, once. After that it works offline.
- Free is free. On-device transcription, your vocabulary and your full history, 1000 words a day, no account. Sign in and the first 7 days are full Premium — no card.
